Living My Dream at New York Fashion Week

Hi, I’m Mahek Jariwala, and I’m thrilled to share my unforgettable experience of showcasing my work at the prestigious New York Fashion Week.
Every fashion student dreams of presenting their creativity on global platforms like London Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Week, and, in India, Lakmé Fashion Week. And guess what? NIF Global makes these dreams come true for its students!
Yes, I was just as surprised when I discovered this after joining NIF Global Surat.
Now, speaking about my journey — being part of a showcase at such a renowned platform was nothing short of life-changing.
A total of eight student groups participated, and at this level, mentorship plays a vital role. The right guidance not only enhances our skills but also shapes the way we think and view fashion. From the very beginning, our faculty mentors at the Surat campus guided us through every step — from understanding current trends in silhouettes and color palettes to the crucial stages of collection development and styling.
Whenever we felt stuck or overwhelmed, our mentors were there to support us. We also had the incredible opportunity to be mentored by international experts, who walked us through the creative process, refined our work, and helped us bring our best ideas forward.
We poured our hearts and creativity into our designs. And then came that moment — seeing our garment on the runway at New York Fashion Week! I can’t put that feeling into words — it truly felt like living my childhood dream.
I’m so grateful to all the faculty members, international mentors, and most importantly, NIF Global, for giving students like me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Participating in New York Fashion Week has been the best experience of my life!
